Explore the King River with us.
Where muddy tidal waters snake their way through the cracked earth, creating dendritic patterns on ancient tidal flats. Where the silhouette of the Cockburn Ranges rises in the distance.
This country gets under your skin, the kind of place that never leaves you. Somewhere you don’t just walk away from, you carry it with you.
This is where the King River Camo was born.
A pattern inspired by those tidal flats and serpent-like river bends. A pattern that was born from exploring this unique waterway. The King River Camo wasn’t dreamt of from a studio, it was born from days exploring this amazing place.
Welcome to the King River.

The King River from Ben Broady's eyes
BBCXplore is built on a deep connection to the Kimberley and those who know it best. Where coastal lifestyle meets some of Australia’s most rugged and remote environments. Every pattern belongs to a different part of the Kimberley, places that are completely unique to anywhere else in the world and told by those whose lives those places have shaped.
Gear made to carry that place with you, wherever your journey takes you.
FAQ
What is the technical inspiration behind the King River hoodie?
The King River Hoodie is purpose built for long days walking across the salt flats of the King River. With its mesh inserts running from hip to wrist to keep the air flow constant and its light pastel colours to keep the baking sun from cooking you.
Does the King River Camo come on any other products?
Yes! We feature the King River Camo on different products in the BBCXplore range including neoprene adventure mats, microfibre towels, laser cut hats & dry bags.
What is BBCXplore and why is it different from other collections?
BBCXplore is built on a deep connection to the Kimberley, its patterns and stories told by those who have been shaped by the place. Gear designed, tested and trusted in real-world conditions.
The range includes UPF 50+ apparel, waterproof essentials, durable bags and everyday accessories.
Are your hoodies designed to be worn in water?
With a fabric make up of 86% polyester, 14% spandex, moisture-wicking, quick-drying and anti-bacterial knit they are designed to keep you sun protected and dry while in the scorching sun.
Whilst not a rash vest they are completely fine to be used as sun protection in the water while cooling off.
Who is Ben Broady and what is his connection to the King River?
Ben Broady is a photographer/videographer who was born in Wyndham and raised in East Kimberley.
As a kid he spent countless days on the
salt flats of the King River. Nowadays he walks this country with deep respect capturing its beauty with his lens.
How was the idea for the Kimberley Camo range born?
The initial concept came from wanting to create high quality performance adventure shirts inspired by and worn in the places we love.
When we approached Ben
Broady to do the videography for the King River and started chatting, we realised we needed people that have been shaped by these amazing places to tell their story like Ben.
